Welcome to EZStreet! Use the procedures in this section to install your new software.
After you install EZStreet, we recommend that you use this guide to help you set up your company.
NOTE: If you have already chosen Intekron's Hosted Deployment option for EZStreet, please skip this section. EZStreet is a server-based application, and requires a certain level of technical expertise to install. If you don't want to install EZStreet on your own server, either because of the cost of purchasing and maintaining a server, or you just don't want to bother with this installation, you can let Intekron host EZStreet for you. Intekron has hosted deployment options for all of its software, greatly reducing your costs of buying, maintaining, and providing access to web/server-based software.
EZStreet has been designed to work on a network, serving multiple users, with no client software installation required. Easy Street uses a Web-server to allow you to deploy it in a network environment.
To use EZStreet, you need the following minimum server equipment and software:
When using EZStreet, each computer you want to access the server must have Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) installed. The TCP/IP protocol is included with all supported Windows operating systems. To install and configure the TCP/IP protocol and related components, double-click the Network icon in Control Panel. Each system must meet additional requirements depending on whether you want to use the server on an intranet or the Internet.
To access the EZStreet server, you need only have Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.0 or greater installed on your computer. If you do not have a compatible browser version, EZStreet will automatically notify you and provide a link to the latest browser available from the Microsoft Web site.
EZStreet supports a number of different installation configurations for the server. Each of the server installation options is categorized by the target operating system of your server. You don’t need a dedicated server computer to install and use EZStreet. EZStreet comes in configurations for Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP.
The EZStreet server can be installed on a Windows 95/98/ME computer. The one limitation we suggest is that you only use your Windows 95/98/ME server on your Local Area Network (LAN), or as a standalone computer. Windows 95/98/ME isn’t as robust a networking and server platform as Windows NT or Windows 2000, therefore you can’t expect a Windows 95/98/ME server to perform as well as on the dedicated Windows Server operating systems.
FYI: FrontPage Users
If you installed FrontPage 97/98, you would likely have also installed, by default, a FrontPage version of Personal Web Server. However, that server is not able to run the EZStreet Server application. Because you cannot install a second Web server on the same computer, you must uninstall FrontPage and then re-install it after the Personal Web Server installation.
To install Personal Web Server on a Windows 95 computer, you will need to install the Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack. You can download the NT 4.0 Option Pack from Microsoft at:
http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/ntoptionpack/askwiz.asp
Follow the installation instructions as described by Microsoft. When you have finished the installation of the Personal Web Server, continue to the next section: Installing the EZStreet Server files.
Un-ZIP the EZSTtreet30.zip file into a directory on your server computer. Once the files have been successfully un-zipped, you will need to Configure Personal Web Server.
The EZStreet server can be installed on a Windows NT/2000/XP Professional server computer. The only requirement is that you have IIS (Internet Information Server) installed.
Un-ZIP the EZSTtreet30.zip file into a directory on your server computer. Once the files have been successfully un-zipped, you will need to Configure IIS.
Read/Write permissions need to be set on a number of directories for the
generic IIS webserver user IUSER_currentMachineName.
Access permissions
are set by the machine administrator. The following permissions need to be
established:
The final step in installing EZStreet requires that you register the program DLL on the server. In the un-zipped directories of your Easy Street installation, there will be a directory name bin. In this directory there is a file call EZStreet.dll. Open a Command Prompt or DOS Window and set your path to the bin directory. On the command prompt, type the following and press enter:
regsvr32 ezstreet.dll
You should get a confirmation message that the dll was successfully registered.
